Open Studio at Color Wheel Studio

Color Wheel Studio, Where Children Learn How Color Shapes Their World
Sunday, October 14, 2012 - 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Color Wheel Studio was created out of concern for the fine art education in both public and private school system. The school is housed the the studio of artist Donald Jackson who has been an artist in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area for the past twenty two years. Color Wheel Studio is in it's second year of teaching and there is no other place like it in the city of Chicago. This is a working artist studio where classes are taught to children throughout the week as they see the progress and development of real art as well as how a professional artist studio is run. This is not a craft studio, only fine art technique is taught here which helps foster the cognitive development in children two through six and fine art development for children six through teens. What I would like out of this open studio is for people to not only see the artwork I create, but answer questions about how art and artist are integrated in their lives and the lives of their children as well as the community. I work closely with the surrounding schools to make sure they are aware of this resource to help enhance their own art curriculum. Color Wheel Studio is a for profit business and a valuable resource for the city of Chicago. It is my hope that I can inspire others to take matters in their own hands and make positive developments in their community.
