Sunday, October 6, 2013 to Sunday, November 3, 2013

Visual Poet and Artist Batya Hernandez recently underwent a major life change when her husband, Chicago poet David Hernandez, died of a sudden heart attack last February at home with their daughter; they didn't see that one coming and neither did anyone else. This experience has shaped Hernandez and her daughter as they continue to move through the grief process. The exhibit will focus on the Before-and-After, and will seem to be dichotomous in nature. Images will depict the expression of emotions that have defined their lives in recent months.

Hernandez and Artist Victoria Loeb will collaborate to depict the Before-and-After emotions and images associated with grief. Loeb is well known for her intimate figurative portraits that focus on the suggestive, rather than interpret what is shown, the most evident.
